Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a format that emphasizes simplicity, generality and usability over the Internet. This language has been adopted as an international standard, not only containing document-type data but also arbitrary data structures. In fact, it forms part of recent Office formats, such as DOCX and XLSX.
Convert Excel to XML offers to convert Excel datasheets to XLS format. Several reasons would justify this conversion. First, XLS can be used on any platform. Second, it is fully compatible with such applications as Java. Third, it is so portable that can be used on large networks using different platforms, like the Internet. Finally, as it is an independent format, it assures exchangeability without data loss.
This program’s interface is so intuitive that you will probably understand what it is about at a first glance. You can start by creating a list of files. Complete folders or individual files are supported. Then, you must drag these files to a second list and mark those you want to convert. At this point, you will ready to perform the conversion.
On the whole, the main advantage of Convert Excel to XML is derived from its capacity to convert file batches. However, in my opinion, it has no use for individual files because XML is one of the target formats supported by Microsoft Excel from the Save As command.
